Duplicity :: Extended Demo Ver.

I noticed your page lacks a "warning" section.
Could you add one? If you have the game planned I mean.

I realize it doesn't matter for the demo, since it's pure sweetness, but I wanna know if I should save this game under "sweet" romance or "dark" romance. lol

(And yes, I fully expect the yandere to kill someone at some point, but that's still really sweet since he's doing it to protect you. ^_^

But beyond that there's a huge range of how dark the games CAN get. From the milder (tho rarely mild) manipulation to kidnapping and torture, and everything in between.)

I personally love darker yandere's --provided they don't try and restrict my freedom directly. But it's nice to know.
(And by directly I mean by force. I enjoy them using manipulation and killing people who gets in their way, but brute force like kidnapping always seems like it should be a last resort if you fail at everything else.)

I am super-curious about how Griff will turn out.
He strikes me as the kind of guy that will slowly end up controlling your life in a way you won't even notice, because he's such a cunning manipulator.

(Like, he starts with buying you lunch, and soon he's making you every meals, and starts ordering for you at the restaurants, but he always get you what you want, and it happens so slowly you don't think it's anything but sweet until one day you realize you never touch any food he deems unhealthy or something.

And/or he starts visiting more and more, starting to leave behind fist a toothbrush, then more stuff, start with gifts for the house until somehow it ends up redecorated, and before you realize it you're living together and you don't even know how it happened, and when he says you should move to his place cuz it's bigger, it just makes sense... but you still have this nagging feeling that something about this is strange, but since you never protested and he pulls back patiently only to try again later if you deny his request you end up feeling like you chose this, so what could possibly be wrong? xD

And likely using guilt and gasslighting and faking a scary incident to make you seek him out if you try to deny him in any way, and so on.)

I mean... I'm guessing here. But I ADORE a cunning manipulator. ^_^

(Especially a protective killer one. lol)

So I'm just hoping for the best.

I just can't stop thinking about him.

(The sad thing is that if it was me, I'd likely end up just as obsessed as him and swallowed up whole by someone like that. Screw friends and family, cuz I''d be too wrapped up in him to notice or care. ^_^; )

This story is so amazing and intriguing. :heart:

I almost passed straight over this story thinking it was some bad RPG-maker game cuz of the top image.

But it turns out to be a really good visual novel instead.
I only clicked on it cuz I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel for what's left of yandere games I have not yet played.

I'm happy it turned out to be a good visual novel instead of a shitty pixelated game.

And I can't help but wonder if it's really an accident or not. lol
I love those type of yandere stories. Where it's difficult to tell that it's something off....at first.
And it's only later you look back and realize there really was --if the writer is really good that is. ^_^

People in these games need to learn to close their windows. xD

I realize the value of using that, I do.
But what if people LEARNED from the first time? And actually shut their windows properly? And hired a locksmith?
I'd LOVE to see them do that!

It would force the yandere to be more clever as well.
Not every apartment building have a janitor that lets you into someone's place because you claim to be their friend so you can leave a xmass flower on their desk as a nice surprise for the person you love... fyi: Don't. It seem to REALLY creep people out. ^_^;

According to a burglar who was interviewed, most locks are actually shitty and easy to lockpick --even the expensive fancy-looking ones.
I forget which type is the good lock you SHOULD buy, but having spent time in the more paranoid parts of europe, I'm guessing those you have to turn the key three times.
Which are not common in the uk or northern europe, and not america either I think.
So he could easily sneak in the door, but it would be trickier than using the window.

And it would add realism to the story if people behaved realistically.

Just a tip.

Oh, wait! *snaps my fingers* I JUST got why she was so freaked out of the break-in! It was the whole thing someone did with a certain garment, wasn't it? /facepalm
...I've studied psychology since I was 16....you'd think I understood how humans think by now. >_>;
Even if it makes little sense to me.

I love all the choices in this game.
I just hope there is a point to them.
(Like for the friend app, it had a lot of choices. And that'd make a treasure trove for setting up Chekhov's Gun moments. With someone knowing just a liiiiitle bit too much, but pretending he didn't know, and just so happened to have the same taste, or it was a random choice and clearly this must be fate, kinda thing.)

I'd probably never look at him twice if I didn't suspect there was a darkness hiding under the surface there, but he's pretty sweet sometimes. (Ironically the mc feels she should be creeped out/worried when he is, but hey!)

I think the only true flaw I have seen in this game thus far (and I am a notorious nitpicker) is that the MC is a bit TOO observant.
It would actually be better if, instead of the mc focusing on "Oh, he knew Tris' name even if I haven't mention it", she could go "Wait, when did I mention Trist? Oh, right, must have done it at the cafe".
Something that makes the reader second-guess whether the thing was important or not, because it'll make the reader wonder if the mc DID mention it or not.
Subtlety is a delicate balance. One never want to give away too much, but at the same time also hint just enough.

But I DO love that he has a good reason for knowing it.
So it's still good writing. ^_^

And, of course, my whole view on him is seen through the lenses of assuming -he- is the yandere in this game.
I wouldn't have liked him half as much if he wasn't.

But if he IS the yandere (and I really hope so) then he is one of the best written yandere's I've read since Sebastian in Particles of Reality. ^_^

(Sebastian also started out very sweet, but those writers mastered the art of dropping clues without fully letting the readers realize what was going on until you tried to reject him, or way later. But they're a pro company I think.)

I REALLY hope you'll keep writing this story!

I just played the demo and I'm incredibly in love, i was quite surprised that the game is now being rewritten

I am so late with this but I just wanted to say I adore how you set up these characters (especially with the friction between Griffin and Tris) as well as making them feel quite real and personable. I will say that I played the original demo first before the extended one to see how much changed and my favorite part's gotta be the investigation scene because it really tickled my brain. Also Riley is cute ehem ehem. The hints with Tris being all semi-yandere made me think that if Griffin wasn't already known to be the main yandere (or at least, from what I can tell) Tris would be a good red herring for a yandere (if that changes at all *side eyes*), with the way he was explosive it made me really curious over his side of the story on how he views the MC. 

We need more scenes with papa Dell being protective, worried, and caring for us while we need more chaotic scenes with Sophie. Truly, she is my spirit companion. The ending scene with Tai was like, a big shocker to me genuinely and the cut off??? Man, that was like a wakeup call that while Griffin be chill, he ain't all that yet. 

So excited to see what'll happen in the future! Goodluck with the development~!
